Outreach to Local Schools

Our team has been busy during the 2025-26 school year presenting in high schools about the importance of participating in the right to vote and offering students the opportunity to register in eleven schools in Pierce County.

Our teams presented our PowerPoint deck in 50 separate sections of Civics and AP Government classes, reaching over 1000 students.

Following the presentations, we submitted registration forms to the Elections office, with approximately 30% of the students we spoke to choosing to register. From 2021 through the end of the school year in 2026, our teams have turned in over 1300 registration forms.

If you would like us to speak at your school about voter participation and registration, please Contact Us.

The State We're In

The LWVWA (our state-wide League) has produced a Civics text titled The State We’re In, available in versions for high school and for the elementary grades.

Teachers, librarians, the Washington State Council for the Social Studies, the Washington State Indian Education Association, and the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction all endorse it, and individual English- and Spanish-language print versions of both editions. For more information, including links to read a free PDF version and to purchase books or classroom sets, please visit https://lwvwaef.org/.
